Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven SaaS Director of Business Development to lead our expansion efforts within the Insurance Industry. As the Director of Business Development, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying and securing strategic partnerships, building relationships with key stakeholders, and driving the adoption of our Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions within the insurance sector. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the insurance industry, strong business acumen, and a proven track record of driving successful partnerships and revenue growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to drive revenue growth within the insurance industry, aligned with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
- Identify and target potential strategic partners, including insurance carriers, brokers, and other relevant industry players, to establish mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within target organisations, nurturing partnerships and driving adoption of our SaaS solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, marketing, product, and executive leadership, to develop customised value propositions and partnership strategies tailored to the insurance industry.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and growth opportunities within the insurance sector.
- Lead the negotiation and execution of partnership agreements, ensuring alignment with company goals, financial objectives, and legal requirements.
- Monitor industry dynamics, regulatory changes, and customer needs to proactively identify new market opportunities and refine business development strategies accordingly.
- Provide leadership and guidance to a business development team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Track, analyse, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to business development activities, presenting findings to executive leadership on a regular basis.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and innovations in the insurance industry and SaaS solutions, applying industry knowledge to drive business growth and maintain a competitive edge.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Proven track record of success in business development, partnership management, or sales roles within the insurance industry. Experience in the SaaS space is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry, including understanding of insurance products, distribution channels, regulatory environment, and industry dynamics.
- Strong network of contacts and relationships within the insurance industry, including carriers, brokers, and industry associations.
- Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth through strategic partnerships and business development initiatives.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and build rapport with C-level executives and key stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage market research and data to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet with partners and attend industry events.
Nice-to-have
- Previous experience working with SaaS solutions in the insurance industry, such as policy administration systems, claims management systems, or underwriting platforms.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), or blockchain, and their applications within the insurance industry.
- Understanding of insurance technology (insurtech) trends, including usage-based insurance, telematics, or digital distribution models.
- Existing relationships and partnerships within the insurtech ecosystem.
- Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment.
